I became a member of the Monte Rio community in 2008, when my husband and I bought our very first house here. Though we still commute to SF during the week for work, I was very interested in becoming active here and became a founding member and board member of The Friends of Monte Rio. I am excited by the new re energized group of board members and volunteers who have joined to support our ongoing programs and who are bringing fresh ideas for more community and educational opportunities for our residents.

I am co founder of The Working Group,  a non profit,  strategic media production company that documents stories focused on issues of workplace issues; race and diversity, and encouraging democracy and citizen participation.
I now work as a freelance producer, often in collaboration with KRCB, our North Bay  public media station.

I became involved with Friends of Monte Rio in 2011. I have lived in Monte Rio since 1978 and over the years have seen the increased focus on tourism and less on resources for the local population. I liked their mission statement and desire to collaborate with the Monte Rio Recreation & Park District to bring more events and programs to the Community Center.

I moved to San Francisco from Philadelphia in 1967 and  moved to the Russian River in 1973. I worked at River to Coast Children’s Services in Guerneville for 25 years.

Suzie Rose Jeltsch   In 2008, my husband & I moved up to our home in Monte Rio, after spending previous years coming up on weekends.  Initially, it was a bit of culture shock after growing up in NYC, then moving to SF before Monte Rio.  From city to city to rural living…there’s quite a difference. However, I have grown to love it…the scenery, close to the coast, and the weather (except for this year!)  As a nature photographer, I couldn't have chosen a more beautiful area in
which to live.  And now I cannot imagine living in a city ever again…

I joined FoMR several years ago.  It has enabled me to meet creative, like-minded folks and be involved with the wonderful programs and events put on by the FoMR.
